Our Story
Ellis Gildner started Moisture Company in Nashville with a clear mission: to solve the unique environmental challenges facing Middle Tennessee crawlspaces. We recognized that the local humidity isn't just a comfort issue—it's a significant threat to home safety, air quality, and structural integrity. Our journey started with a focus on delivering transparent, engineering-grade moisture protection that Nashville homeowners can actually trust.
Today, our foundational principles remain unchanged. We specialize exclusively in advanced encapsulation, vapor barrier and dehumidification systems, using only premium materials and trained installation specialists. By focusing on crawlspace health, we've helped many of our neighbors protect their families from mold and rot. For us, every installation is an opportunity to strengthen a home’s foundation and ensure a healthier living environment for years to come.
About the owner
Ellis Gildner is a construction professional, seasoned traveler, portrait photographer, competitive rally racer, and whose life and work are defined by resilience, curiosity, providing a high level of quality and detail to his projects.
Having backpacked through 29 countries, Ellis has explored both iconic destinations and remote, lesser-traveled regions around the globe. In Haiti, he worked on a photojournalism assignment during a period of intense political instability. While on the ground, he built relationships with local politicians and community leaders, navigating burning streets filled with rioters during the unrest surrounding the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. His time there reinforced his ability to remain calm under pressure, build trust across cultural lines, and document history as it unfolded.
His photography centers on the unseen and underrepresented—capturing powerful portraits and quiet human stories that might otherwise go untold. His natural ability to make people feel at ease allows him to create work marked by dignity, honesty, and depth.
Adventure for Ellis extends far beyond international travel. For more than eight years, he successfully competed in rally racing events across the United States, sharpening his mechanical intuition and composure under pressure. A lifelong automotive enthusiast, he has owned more than 20 vehicles—personally maintaining, repairing, and restoring each one himself. His knowledge is earned through hands-on discipline, precision, and self-reliance.
Among his most remarkable experiences was sailing a 133-foot salmon tender vessel built in 1949 from Seattle through the Canadian coastline into Alaska, purchasing salmon directly from Indigenous Alaskan tribes. In another defining chapter, he acquired a vintage 1983 diesel Mercedes sedan and drove it across the United States, camping along the way—combining mechanical grit with minimalist exploration.
Beyond travel and racing, Ellis brings over 15 years of experience in custom home renovations and construction management. He has managed multiple companies in a handful of industries throughout his career, leading teams and overseeing projects from concept to completion. His leadership style blends organization, craftsmanship, financial discipline, and steady decision-making under pressure all while providing a high level of customer service.
His diverse experiences also include touring with the country music group Shenandoah and completing a 10,000-mile car-camping expedition across the United States. Outside of work and travel, he values time with close friends, exploring the world, drinking coffee and thrives on building new relationships wherever he goes.
Whether navigating political unrest abroad, racing at speed, sailing historic vessels through strange waters, or leading complex construction projects, Ellis thrives in environments that demand adaptability.
